We knew it all along: Jimmy Allgood is a Top Influencer in Georgia

The chairman of Delta Airlines. The governor of Georgia. The chief justice of the Georgia Supreme Court.

When you're included on Georgia Trend's list of the 2018 100 Most Influential Georgians, you're in some darn good company. We're proud to say that Jimmy Allgood, the man who founded the company today known as Cingo, is among the impressive list of Georgians honored this year.

Congrats, Jimmy.

Georgia Trend — a statewide monthly magazine that writes about Georgia business, politics and economic development — this year marks 20 years of honoring the Top 100 Georgia influencers. The magazine describes it as a list of people who have "an enormous impact on the daily lives of Georgians."

That is certainly true for Jimmy Allgood, appointed in 2016 by Gov. Nathan Deal to lead the 13-member board of directors of the Georgia Port Authority (GPA). It's a time of unprecedented growth and advancement for the network that includes Georgia's deep-water ports in Savannah and Brunswick, plus barge operations in Bainbridge and Columbus. Through Georgia's "gateways to the world" raw materials and finished products flow to and from designations around the world. GPA accounts for more than 369,000 jobs statewide, $84.1 billion in revenue and income exceeding $20.4 billion annually.

And that's only one piece of Jimmy's impressive portfolio of service, which covers decades of contributions large and small in his hometown of Dublin and around the state. His background includes launching of what would evolve into a regional, award-winning pest control company and seats on numerous industry and civic boards, including the Governor's Rural Development Council and Georgia Chamber of Commerce board of directors.

It's not easy to land on Georgia Trend's list of influencers. Here's how the editors explain the creation of the list:

"It's a year-round process that involves lots of meetings and discussions. The original list is always more than 100, and we think the final group subject to retirements, course corrections and shifts in power, not to mention late-in-the-year hirings and firings and a controversy or two represents the realities of leadership, power, character and influence in Georgia."

We've always recognized Jimmy's impact as our founder, head of the Allgood family, and community leader. We're proud that Georgia Trend has recognized him, too.

In addition to being named to Georgia Trend's List of 100 Most Influential Georgians, Jimmy Allgood is an avid Georgia Bulldog.
